Okay, FoLCs, what are your blood groups? (and if you don't know, _why_not?_) BTW, Irene, Nan's figures are, I think, only for one particular population (North America, Nan?). I just got around to reading them--I'm terribly behind on everything just now--and I think you've kept them very much in character. I can just visualize a younger Martha the way you've portrayed her here, as a "free spirit" so to speak, who eventually grew up into the woman whom we knew on the series. I'll be waiting for the third part of the series whenever you get around to writing it. >> Thanks, Nan :) I'm glad my portrayal of Martha fits with your take on the character presented in the show. After I got half-way through the series, I was worried that I was extrapolating too much so I toned her down a little. I'm glad this version is working. BTW, last night I went to a talk by Joyce Carol Oates, a writer of short stories, poetry, and a few novels. She read from poems and a new novel about Norma Jean Baker/Marilyn Monroe. One thing she said about writing stuck with me: even being a published & well-respected writer, she finds it difficult to share her writing with others. One audience member asked why. She said people will think your writing represents how you are now, when, really, it represents what you were when you wrote it. By the time a story is polished enough for others to read, you have changed enough so it no longer accurately represents you; if nothing else, the process of writing that particular story has changed you. This struck me, as I had never realized that the very process of writing would change me... AB-positive is the universal recipient. Anyone can accept O-negative blood because there are no immunity incompatibilities--O indicates no extra protein layers such as exist for A or B, and Rh-negative indicates the Rh protein is missing. AB-positive can accept blood from O, A, B, and AB, positive or negative. There were some great repsonses:) I noticed a few months ago, when I made a concerted effort to write a more action oriented fanfic story, I got some wonderful feedback from fans who were drawn specifically to the action aspects. I might mention that I got more male feedback to the story than I ever usually get and that I was encouraged to write more like it. Unfortunately for them, I seem to revel in WAFFY stories and nfics:) I also find that Point of View (POV), a subject of much discussion in my graduate writing classes, is a pre-occupation of mine. In a story about L&C, often the POV must be shared, as is done in the scripts. Mostly, writing students are warned against this unless a novel is about many characters at once. Even then, usually POV does not shift within chapters but alternate among chapters (or clearly defined sections of chapters). I find myself trying hard to write a story from one POV or the other. When I want to be particularly praising of CK, I write from LL's POV. This allows me to rapsodize about how great CK is but this is actually harder for me sometimes. That is because I actually identify more with CK in general, despite the fact that I am female. When I write from CK's POV, I have fun with it but I must work harder to bring out my greater admiration for his character. OK, I admit it am partial to him Mostly what I find here is TALENT!!!!!!!!!!!! The Kerth nominations are an outstanding example of just a few of the really wonderful stories I have encountered. I am regularly moved and awed and thrilled to have access to all the great stories. Congrats to the nominated:) Now if I only had more time to read and write L&C.....!
