L&C is on in reruns in the US on TNT, and you might find someone who would be willing to tape those few episodes for you if you offer to reimburse the costs. However, if you can't read those tapes, it won't do you much good. Does Portugal use the same VCR system as the UK or other European countries? Or Australia? If so, you might want to direct your plea to European or Australian FoLCs who might be able to copy their existing tapes of those episodes for you. Since you are only looking for six specific episodes, you might have an easier time of it than someone asking for tapes of an entire season. I know that tapes of the first season (and the beginning of the second?) were available for sale in the UK a few years ago. I don't know if they still are for sale, or if they were only there for a limited time. Good luck! As far as I'm aware, the WB tapes are still on sale here in the UK in PAL format, although the Pilot can be a little trickier to track down than the others. But it depends which episodes you're looking for, Celia (sorry missed your original post). WB pulled the plug on us after tape 13 (TOGOM/BFTB/SG) when LNC was cancelled. So we only ever made it to midway through season two. Should you meet with some kind FOLC who is willing to send you copies of the series you should have no problem viewing them on your machine. Most recording companies and local television stations have the equipment available to duplicate the tape into the necessary format and for a small fee are usually willing to do so. The audio video department of a university is also a resource you might look into. A friend of mine in England sends me Red Dwarf videos in exchange for L&C videos and we have no problem getting them translated into the appropriate formats. That the American psyche is more directed towards video rental than in collecting the critters on sale and are more likely to simply tape straight from the TV than shell out cash for the packaged version. Whereas your average Brit will happily dole out the money to add to their tape collection. That's the excuse from TPTB anyhow. Over here, it's gotten highly unusual *not* to find your favorite TV show on sale in the high street. We've kinda gotten to expect it and are disappointed and surprised when we discover our favorite show isn't on the shelves. The BBC in particular has lead the explosion in recent years. A nice little earner for 'em. Did someone ask on the list why BEST MEN's release was delayed in the US and query why it premiered in Europe first? Or am I getting confused with someone who mailed me personally? Whatever - I'd heard recently that the reason for this was that the gay rights lobby in the States had kicked up a fuss over a straight guy playing a gay character and spooked the distributors. Can't imagine that's so, as loads of straight actors have played gay characters in the past. Anyone got any gen? Will Lois and Clark find a way to spend quality time together ? We would still like to hear from you if you have any story premises of your own that you would like us to explore together. You can either email them to me at: eraygun@aol.com Or better still, just bring your ideas with you when you join us this Saturday or for our weekly "story bouncing" sessions on Wednesdays on #L&CFicOrg, starting around 9:00 PM EDT. We generally meet Saturdays starting at 3 PM EDT and try to start writing fairly soon thereafter. You can come and join the fun at any time, however. We are usually there for several hours since writing a story takes time. Since #L&CFanfic is on occasion "invite only" please message if you want to join us. If an official "inviter" is designated, we will let you know. Some of us should be hanging out on #Loiscla. A note on procedure here ;) : When people need to be caught up on the story in progress after being bounced off IRC or just joining the session late, please try and avoid pasting the story directly into the channel window. Please do that in a private message or dcc-chat window instead. Hope to see you all there! The Beeb's versions aren't the only ones available. SKY has shown the show almost entirely uncut - all except VD, where (for some weird reason) there was a reversal of fortunes with SKY cutting out the romp on the bed and the Beeb showing it! Go figure. Maybe the censors swapped shifts that week. Certainly, my copies of the episodes shown on SKY match exactly the episodes brought out on tape by WB and I've no reason to believe that any serious cuts were made in later episodes either. Very briefly, it is a first-season story which takes a 'what-if' look at Superman's first return from stopping the asteroid in All Shook Up. There are three main requirements I should make clear: 1) It is a very long story - about 70 pages in MS Word, so you're going to have to have patience with long stories! 2) Part of the plot involves Lois becoming pregnant. I have never been pregnant, so I am looking for a volunteer who has herself had a baby or whose spouse has - I need to be sure that any details relating to the course of a normal pregnancy are accurate. 3) It would be very helpful to me to have a volunteer to who is able to accept attachments in MS Word, or a text-file attachment. With a story of this length, breaking it up into parts to send in the body of emails would be difficult! If there is a kind soul out there who thinks that these requirements are not too onerous, I would be delighted to hear from you! Please mail me privately. After BGDF last Saturday, Sky showed the pilot on Sunday. << I don't know if it's true or not, but I'd heard that the reason for this is that there's little market in the States for sell thru videos of TV shows and movies. >> I also wondered if this had anything to do with the American syndication market and all those hundreds of channels. Until 1982 the UK only had 3 channels and until 1988 we only really had 4 channels. Its only since Sky came about ten years ago that satellite and cable have taken off in the UK and its only now with the advent of digital television are we being promised hundreds of channels. So until very recently we were lucky if we got to see a tv series twice. Unlike America who can rely on countless reruns due to the syndication market. Perhaps our video markets have evolved accordingly? Also maybe for some strange reason the US PTB feel that releasing videos of TV shows would threaten the syndication market? What would be the point of local stations showing and reshowing series if people could go buy them? Also there is all the copyright factors. Just a thought so please no one get mad. ========================================================================= Date: Sat, 17 Oct 1998 09:46:41 -0400 Reply-To: "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman Fanfic" Sender: "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman Fanfic" From: Donna Lehman <102262.2435@COMPUSERVE.COM> Subject: Re: Help...? FoLCs - don't ya just love 'em? BTW, do you know that SKY even restored a tiny missing snippet from TOGOM which was snipped out of the WB version? I'd always suspected something was missing because the background music track skips in the middle of the scene. And, lo and behold, there it was on the SKY repeat. Nothing exciting unfortunately! >BTW where has season 4 gone? After BGDF last Saturday, Sky showed the pilot >on Sunday. Yes - and I had my video all set up ready to go too. Also I believe the reason it is just the instumental songs is because it is the "Lois and Clark Soundtrack" the songs that only identify LnC the show, the characters, & the mood, not the songs sung on Lois and Clark. One of the guys who created Superman (I can never recall which one it was) was born in Canada and lived there for a few years. Then he and his family moved to Cleveland, where he met the other creator in school. Remember that the "men" who created Superman were only 14-15 when they did so! They were involved in fandom in a number of ways, including writing a story with a "superman" in it years before Kal-El was invented, although from what I've read that original "superman" was a villain, and nothing like the final version. THey did shop around the concept of Superman (as he eventually turned out) for a while before they found a publisher for the story. That publisher eventually became DC Comics. There are plenty of other history books out there that could give you more info on this subject, and probably more accurately than I could! -- Jenny Stosser -*- jenerate@ozramp.net.au -*-This message is umop ap!sdn (Jenerator or Some1Else on IRC) -*- JenerEight on AIM & AOL -*- My ICQ# is 11477318=20 Photos of David (6) and Megan (3) on the Stosser Family HomePage:=20 http://geocities.com/Heartland/Estates/4583 Please sign our guestbook! ========================================================================= Date: Sun, 18 Oct 1998 13:13:55 +0100 Reply-To: "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman Fanfic" Sender: "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman Fanfic" From: Wendy Richards Subject: Re: my request for a story editor MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; CHARSET=US-ASCII Hi again, Since my email yesterday asking for a volunteer to edit a new fanfiction of mine, I have had several very kind offers and have decided to accept the two which most closely matched what I was looking for. I thought it might be possible to order the items online -- the URL for the post office is: http://www.usps.gov/ However, when I searched on Superman, I found a couple of articles about the release of the new stamp (which is part of a pane of 15 stamps about the 1930's -- you can't buy just a sheet of Superman stamps, unfortunately), and it took a little more digging to find any ordering information. From the main page there's a link called "Store" and from there a link called "Stamps Online". I know this has probably already been posted, but the last time it was, I guess I wasn't paying attention. In the episode "Church of Metropolis", the song at the end of the show, "Fly Me To the Moon," does anyone know who sings it? I know there are A LOT of singers who have recorded the song (I just searched Music Blvd!!), but who exactly sung it in that episode? Email me privately if you know the answer. Thanks. Also, does anyone know whether there's been any fanfic written that takes place at the end of this episode? In other words, starts where what we see on TV ends? My mom was in the car watching my son as I came darting out of the post office back to the car in search of my wallet!! I'm now the proud owner of a Superman Keychain, refrigerator magnet, and the cling designs! YAY! My hubby surprised me this morning and had put my cling designs of the S shield and the picture of Clark turning into Superman up on my window in my office! (we let our son have the one that looks like the stamp for his room--I have to share!) He also cut out the part that say's Superman that wasn't ment to be a cling sticker but it's made out of the same stuff and put that up there too in a very nice arrangement! Then after being 'touched' about that all day, I sit down at my computer tonight and I see that he also cut out the little S sheild and put it in the bottom right hand corner of my computer screen! One of the toughest parts of being an adult is you *have* to make decisions/choices. And right now, I'm struggling with a choice that I really don't want to have to make. I've been putting this off, procrastinating, and generally dragging my feet. Unfortunately, no decision *is*, in reality, a decision. As soon as I can hunt down the info, I'm going to unsubscribe >from the fanfic list. I no longer have the time in my life to dedicate to reading this much mail. The list, and FoLCdom, is like an addiction, to me at least. I've tried to break away >from it in the past. I usually lurk on the lists, so I tried to quietly fade away. I dropped the main LnC list around a year ago or more. When I moved, I unsub'ed from all the lists. I couldn't resist the fanfic list, though, so I signed back on. Recently, my email address quit working for some reason, and the bounced mail from my non-working account got my name removed >from the list. The list Mom doesn't really like pouring through hundred's of error messages every day. :-) I thought, "Great!" But to no avail. I lasted a week and then resigned up. My hope is that by going "public", this will cement the decision to leave the list in my mind and I can make it this time. Gosh, this is hard. The recent grammer/proper english thread is making it easier though. :-) There are only 24 hours in a day, and there *are* more important things than LnC. I can think of three of them right now, and their love means more than anything to me. I need to spend more time on some things in my life, and something had to go. My plate ranneth over. (One of the first things I need to do is update my personal web page. sigh...) I've had an incredibly great time in FoLCdom. I don't think I've ever been so into a show before, and I doubt I will ever allow myself to do so again. It was a bittersweet experience, but not one I regret experiencing. I feel like I've made some cyber-friends out there. I don't really know any of you very well, but still - I feel like I do know you to some extent. Thanks for the many kind words I've received in the past. That's what makes this all the harder. I don't plan on yanking my stories from the archive. They will stay there as long as they will have them. Who knows? Maybe I'll find some time to write again. I'll be thinking of you all. While Perry was away at the wars (Vietnam, I think), Luthor and Alice had an affair. When Perry came back, Alice left Luthor and returned to him. Lex, being Lex, made sure that Perry knew about his and Alice's affair, but Alice and Perry got married anyway. Shortly afterwards, Alice told Perry she was pregnant. (World of Metropolis #1) Just like in LNC, Jerry White was always in trouble; he and Perry were frequently at odds. Jerry was eventually shot, and while he lay dying in the hospital, Luthor showed up to find out how HIS SON was. (Superman #49) Jerry died, and Perry was devastated, both by Luthor's revelation and Jerry's death. He took a leave of absense from the Planet, and managed to put his life and his marriage back together again. Later, he and Alice helped care for an orphaned boy (Keith Robert) and decided to adopt him. (Man of Steel #39) I wonder how Keith is doing; we haven't seen him recently. One thing to remember is that in the comics, Perry and Luthor are contemporaries. They knew each other as children, and have never had any real illusions about the other. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Genevieve Lots of great stuff on my webpage The World Wide Web has made it possible for anyone to find in five hours, what a competent librarian can find in five minutes. :-) ========================================================================= Date: Mon, 19 Oct 1998 21:50:54 -0400 Reply-To: nightsky@erols.com Sender: "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman Fanfic" From: Genevieve Subject: Re: Pregnant Lois stories MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Kate said: > >> seeing as I am an 18 yr old who has only been a big sister type and > has never been preggers, I need help. << And Pam answered: > Very wise! Those of > you who were involved in S5 or TUFS will doubtless remember me spouting off > about that very subject Some of those details have been quite amusing, however. One thing to remember is that each pregnancy, each childbirth is different for everyone. I put a lot of details about the labor and delivery in the final TUFS episode, and for each detail, I'd get comments saying "Yes! I remember feeling like that -- that is *exactly* what childbirth is like." And then someone else would write about the *very same thing*, saying that it was just totally unrealistic, and no one would actually do that/feel that way. I surrounded myself with library books about pregnancy and childbirth to write that episode. (Librarians aren't supposed to make judgement calls about you because of what you check out, BTW. And when you really get pregnant, you'll want to *buy* all those books, not just borrow them.) So get the books, read about pregnancy and decide which symptoms she would be likely to have. Once you figure out how she's going to react physically, you can have lots of fun showing how she (and Clark) react psychologically to this "delicate condition." I have to agree with Pam when she said: > There have been a lot of pregnancy stories written, some better than > others, but there's always room for more, I say. Lois being pregnant makes for some great stories, but I'll go out on a limb and say that I am waiting to read a story showing the other side. Dr. Klein said they *couldn't* have children -- what if he was right? How would Lois react to childlessness, especially as the years pass? How about Clark? It's funny. I see Clark as the one who will really be bothered by the fact that they don't have children. I expect Lois will accept the reality of it, and adapt quite well. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Genevieve Lots of great stuff on my webpage The World Wide Web has made it possible for anyone to find in five hours, what a competent librarian can find in five minutes. :-) ========================================================================= Date: Mon, 19 Oct 1998 22:46:01 -0500 Reply-To: "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman Fanfic" Sender: "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman Fanfic" From: Kathy Brown Subject: Re: "Fly Me To the Moon" In-Reply-To: <6ac88a73.362b1b0b@aol.com> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" At 6:57 AM -0400 10/19/98, PJ Piasecki wrote: >You never heard of Sarah Vaughn?!? >Oh, Kathy..........she was one of the greatest jazz divas of all time. She could probably write a book. Having been through it 7 times successfully (4 boys, 3 girls, )and currently experiencing the entire gamut of childrearing ( 2 in college, one abroad, one locally, 2 in high school, 2 in intermediate and 1 in elementaray) there are things I am learning as a parent that were not covered in all of those psychology courses I took in college. Your mother would be the best source to go to for experience. If she is a working mother like many of us, she can also clue you in on the problems of dealing with pregnancy on the job. Peoples attitudes change drastically when you become pregnant. I was in my first year of grad school when I became pregnant. My husband had business interest he had to attend to in japan. It was frustrating the flying back and forth, constantly having to strive harder in order to make up assignments . With Clark on the go constantly as Superman, how would Lois feel when she is pregnant and alone, needing nurturing and he is out somewhere saving the world? How will she deal with work? Morning sickness? Her parents? A fanfic that I wrote for my daughter once, called "Mothers and Daughters," deals with lois being pregnant. A conversation with her mother reveals that they have more in common than was originally thought. A state of grace between the two is achieved when Lois realizes that it wasn't easy for her mother, being pregnant, and married to someone like her father. She and her mother become friends, and Lois vows never to make those mistakes with her children, to cherish and maintain the bonds made between parent and child. Their are so many angles you can develope your story from. And your mother could be a goldmine of information. It is also a way of getting her involved in something that you enjoy. Who knows? maybe she may take mote than a cursory interest, and a joint fan fic created by you and her together may grace these pages. In the new Superman Red/Blue series when both Clarks' are trying to persuade Lois that they're the real thing, one of them says "Remember that rainy night in July when we first........" I've spent the entire night poring through my comic collection (yes, I'm one of those strange ones that can't sleep if she can't remember the littlest bit of trivia!) and still I've come up empty.<<< Well, at a 'guess', I'd say The Adventures of Superman #469 (1990) On the cover it says "Overload" The first page shows Lois and Clark making out in Smallville while a fireworks display is .. exploding overhead. It's not rainy, but Lois was there for the holiday weekend I believe, so it could have rained ;) Or, it could have been July of 91 (they were engaged by then) Or, the 2nd year of their engagement (92) but that's the last possibility before Clark croaks at the hands of Doomsday, and since he says the line about the rainy night in July when he comes back from the dead, it can only be one of those 3 years (only! ;) In the aftermath of Doomsday, and while Clark was still dead, Lois was thinking about the fact that she lost her "best friend, fiance and lover" when she lost Clark. So, there's little doubt they were lovers long before they got married (good thing since the engagement lasted about 7 years ... well, there was the stupid break-up arc ;P) You can take your pick, 90, 91, or 92. If 1990, then it was while they were dating, but before they were engaged and before Lois knew the secret. It's tough trying to judge this because in the comics, Lois wasn't the first woman Clark proposed to. In college, he proposed to Lori Lemaris (yup, another double L) It's fairly easy to assume that he and Lori were not intimate prior to the proposal because she turned out to be a mermaid, and Clark had no idea Anyway, she turned him down. The TPTB in the comics have always been very "circumspect"? in portraying the LL/CK relationship, always fading away when there was any sign of romantic inclinations developing. In fact they have been much more so since the Byrne revision began in my opinion. Since they got married there has been an almost total lack of any sign of a physical relationship in the comics. I don't remember ever seeing more than a chaste kiss. I don't think they have even been shown waking up together in bed. Maybe I'm misremembering. Do any other comics fans remember any different? J. Cherryh. I had been to a lot of bookstores during the last week and did not remember seeing it. Turns out it had come out in 1997. I called all my local bookstores and no one had it. I asked my husband "How would you like to go to Half-Price Books? I think they may have a book I want." We got there a half hour before closing Sunday night. In the back where oversized science fiction is found I found a stack of brand new Lois "and Clark" books for $4.95, but I only bought one. I had finished reading it in 24 hours (pretty good for such a late start, fixing supper, going to work, walking the blind dog, etc.). I really enjoyed the book. Of course it is not sexually explicit the way many fanzines are, but the story was good. Cherryh has been writing science fiction for years, so I don't think that this was a stretch for her. I just wanted everyone to know that the book was out there with an enjoyable story. Does anyone know of any other L&C good books I may have missed? I had the very first Supergirl! I told my Mother that it is her fault I am not rich because those comics would be worth a lot today if I had not already read them to pieces. I stopped buying Superman comics while in college because I did not have the money. Every once in a while I would pick up a Superman comic and always get the worst one of the year. I missed all the romance with Lois and mariage and his death. Not long ago I picked up 3 Superman comics. They turned out to be a to be continued series and don't even make up one story and cost a lot more than the 10 cents I remember. I feel the kids are being cheated because I used to get 3 storie in one comic and it had twice the number of pages and I could buy 10 comics at full price with my allowance. When I see a $9.00 Batman and a $2.95 Superman, I don't know how the kids can afford to read them. Most of the people with comic collections that I know now are adults who got hooked as children. Children don't read comics like they used to unless their parents can afford it. DC gave everyone the impression that Lois and Clark would never get together because it would kill off the series. I would like to read some of the comics I missed, maybe libraries carry them now that they are becoming art books? I'll look in the children's room next time I go. I even used to have a picture of Henry Ford with a quote about persistence, so just about anything goes. When I moved to my current little home sweet home, one of my best friends said, oh now you are going to decorate like an "adult" right? ie, no fan posters etc. And, well, when I started decorating my room I thought I'd give my friend's notion a try. We painted my room pink with that rag style of a lighter shade so it looks like a big pink cloud. (yes, I do live in my own little universe so living in a cloud works pretty well for me!) Anyway, inititally for decorations, I had some lovely Thomas Kincaid-looking pictures on the walls, some framed prayers to inspire me, and pictures of family and friends on my night table. Still have those. However, Lois and Clark being such an important part of my life, well, I haaaaad to do *something* and yet, whatever I did couldn't interfere with my current non-poster living motif. Sooooo, took myself for a visit to Target, got a lovely painted-gold frame (11 by 14) printed out my favorite L&C pics (some tattoo ones and the whole flying series which is my absolute favorite, and assorted ep ones) and made myself a lovely collage of my favorite couple. Spent a delightful afternoon, on IRC one day, cutting and pasting to my heart's content. Then ofcourse there is the autographed picture of Teri & Dean I printed out and framed that sits ever so beautifully on my desk. Which really goes well with the autographed picture of the cast of JAG I also framed (got matching frames ofcourse!--I'm a sucker for symmetry!). And now my room is truly a reflection of me, it's a place where I can feel peaceful *and* look up and see Dean smiling at me. Hmmm, no wonder I like spending so much time here! So, anyway, my point, (and I, uhm, did have one when I started writing this!---now, where did I put that thing?!?) oh, yes! Your home is your sanctuary, the one place where regardless of what's going on in the rest of the world, you get to make the rules, or even break them as the case may be. I say you decorate it with things that inspire you and bring you either a smile or some much needed peace. Hmmm, I guess that would qualify as my 2 cents, except the way I ramble, 2 cents goes a very loooong way ;o) I love hearing these stories, btw. Decorating and Dean, two of my favorite topics :o) Maggie who has a nice big Superman S in her bathroom even though it totally does not go with anything, because her definition of living dangerously includes combining those primary colors that we know and love :o) maggie13@bellsouth.net (aka supermags on IRC) Clark: Life is short, order what you want. (And I have half of the library couch about 2 feet deep in pictures.) You want to be very careful with a color picture so that it will not fade out. Mainly keeping it from the UV light whether by UV protective plastic/glass or locating away from daylight and UV generating lamps. A poster in a windowless room can last a loooong time. The reds always go first. When I realized this problem I bought 2 pictures of Roy Rogers for him to sign (YEARS AGO) one black and white which I mounted on my wall and one color which I put in my scrap book. Black and White photos don't FADE. You might want to do this at any autographing session you attend. Warning, warning, warning, your picture is in danger Will Robinson if you put it in that photo book with the sticky back gridded with the semivisible lines to line up photos on. I used those when I first entered fandom because you can release pictures and move them around so I could rearrange my collection as it expanded. Several fine autographed photos became permanently attached to those moveable pages in just a few year (I don't know what part Houston's high humidty had to do with it). One of these was my color Roy Rogers autographed glossy which now also has the grid embeded into it. So don't use those books for anything important. DO protect your posters and photos as much as you can afford. Those are the ones that had like 100 people in attendance from all over the world. (I was never one of them, unfortunately.) LAFF could kind of be considered our "national convention". The last one was last summer (summer 97), and I haven't heard of anyone organizing another one. There have also been many local or regional fests over the years. The North East FoLC Fest (NEFF) just had another gathering this month (their third?). That one also has a pretty good regional attendance, like 20-30 FoLCs. Besides that, there are often local fests going on, and those are wonderful. In the Great Lakes area (MI, OH, IN, IL, WI), we had been getting together about once a year until last year, when busy schedules kept us apart this year. I hosted one in MI, Rich hosted one in IN, and Keina/Biz/Kat hosted a few in OH. I have heard of people in other states/regions getting together also. All it takes is for one person or a group of people to step up and offer to coordinate one. There's no set formula. The people who coordinated NEFF and LAFF really did it up, with parties and "field trips", but you don't have to do that for a smaller gathering. It can be as simple as a group of friends getting together to have some fun, eat together, watch some TV and do lots of talking. By way of example, when Rich hosted his fest in northern IN, he rented a hotel room to be our base of operations. We had a TV and VCR set up, and everyone was invited to bring episodes, appearance tapes, etc. We all chipped in maybe $10-20 to help pay for the room, then paid for our own sleeping accomdations after that. Rich even got us a discount on the block of rooms (doubles for the single rate) since there were going to be around 10 of us. We all brought munchies to share. We arrived Saturday afternoon, met in the room, chatted and got to know each other for a few hours, then went out to dinner at a local restaurant. We then went back to the room to watch L&C and Dean/Teri tapes, and talk and gossip some more. One woman (hi Becky! :)) had made up a packet of L&C puzzles like word searches with episode titles and trivia quizzes and we had fun trying to figure those out. Other people had rare appearance tapes. We also had a few FoLCs who were more recent fans and hadn't seen first season episodes (this was before TNT started running the eps). It was great fun not just watching those early eps again but seeing the reaction of the FoLCs who were seeing them for the first time! We were up until probably 1 or 2 am, then went to bed. About half the people left early in the morning, and the other half of us went out to breakfast before heading our separate ways. So, my recommendation is, if you are interested in meeting other FoLCs, offer to host a fest. Ask around to see who is in your area. Post a message that you are considering having a fest in such-and-such city and would like to see who would be interested. Then see who responds. If you only get 1-2 people in your area, maybe set up a meeting in local restaurant. If you get a crowd, discuss what people might like to do. It doesn't have to be elaborate. It's nice to know there's someone else like me in the world. I cannot, no matter how hard I try, "decorate like an adult"! My living room and kitchen are "adult enough": family pictures above the mantel, etc. But my bedroom and family room are a different story. I've put up pictures/posters that inspire me. Needless to say, Lois & Clark nearly fill the walls. But I also have movie sized posters of Sleepless in Seattle, While You Were Sleeping, and Pretty Woman. I love to watch people enter these rooms, because when they see the steam pics of LNC, their eyes about bug out of their heads. But what can I say?? A writer needs to write, and I can't write if I'm not inspired! (And looking at all those Dean pics definitely inspire me ) So anyway, I may have to decorate more "grow up" now that I've hit the big 2-9, but I *refuse* to let ALL of the rooms in my house show my age!!! I really really like all the fun fan paraphernalia, but as much as I like it, I really like to decorate my bedroom and living room a different way. I've never even *thought* of putting up posters and things since I was single and on my own. I got the idea from all of you, thanx this is fun!! But I really appreciate having an office to have fun with, and how this whole "computer age" has allowed us who may not be so bold as to plaster our little fetishes all over the place. I mean, having the Lois and Clark theme for my desk top was a big step for me! My husband and I have this guy friend who is so serious and so, so "rich" and his home looks like a stinkin' museum, but- you go in his office an amongst all the museum quality furniture, he's got that 'dilbert cartoon character plastered everywhere! As far as me putting up the L&C desktop, I thought that my hubby was gonna have a cow! But he didn't! He puts up with me, and has even helped or surprised me in putting some L&C stuff up for me. I guess if I were single, I would have the stuff everywhere! Not I guess, I KNOW I would!!! Heck, I'd have a giant superman flying on my ceiling! TEE HEE!! But now I just don't want to over do it to where my hubby stops humoring me! It's okay with me, he's very much worth it!!. :o) Then Maggie wrote: >>Your home is your sanctuary, the one place where regardless of what's going on in the rest of the world, you get to make the rules, or even break them as the case may be. I was probably afraid of what people would 'think'. I don't know anybody 'grown-up' who had posters in any part of there house! And as far as my office, I've only just begun!!! I'm getting a new poster, I have an old desk, filing cabinet, and book shelf to paint, and I've just discovered we have a Warner brothers store on the other side of the island! YAY! We had originally hoped to have a mid-October premiere, but we've had to push that back a month or so due to various "real life" problems. We have 3 wonderful writers schedule to write our opening two-parter but over the summer/early fall, one got sent out of state for business, one got pregnant and was very tired/sick until just recently, and one got sick. Darn that real life. However, I have see the plot outlines for our opening two-parter, and I think you'll agree they were worth the wait. :) Last year S5 did a wonderful job of getting episodes aired like a real show would -- eps every Sunday complete with preemptions. :) Hats off to Leanne for taking on such a project and making it work so well. S6 won't be like that, however. We'll be more a directed series of fanfics. Due to busy schedules all around, our motto for S6 is "quality first, deadlines second" Luckily, we have outstanding writers on the project, and I'd much prefer to let them do what they do best even if our air dates aren't completely predictable. :) That said, we still hope to release new episodes every 3 weeks or so after our premiere.
